Idesam develops studies and projects to support the consolidation of Conservation Units (UCs) under a socio-environmental perspective. As a tool for implementation, the program values the dissemination of knowledge and the effective participation of local society, so that the communities involved understand the objectives of the area’s existence and what benefits it can bring to the region.
Only in this way does the existence of the UC positively transform the region in socioenvironmental terms, as it brings into play key players, such as riverside dwellers, local managers, city halls, residents’ associations, among others. These people are the ones who will effectively put down all the proposals made during the planning of the UC.
In addition, Idesam works on the following fronts:
- Consolidation and strengthening of management councils;
- Leadership formation and social organization processes;
- Scientific research and applied to UC management;
- Sustainable and community-based tourism plans;
- Sustainable production programs and projects in UCs;
- Certification of agroextractive products.
