(English) Study of Best Business Practices in the Amazon

What is the role of the private sector in the Amazon today? This was the main question that guided this study and informed the research and discussions with the companies and experts interviewed in recent months. Generating shared value, contributing to local development, valuing the standing forest and its assets, promoting the bioeconomy, supporting and strengthening public policies that value the region… There is no single answer. But they all point in the same direction: in the coming years, companies must play a leading role in building a new development model that will be Brazil’s greatest differentiator in the global economy. This includes companies operating directly in the Amazon, those not located in the Amazon but purchasing local products or inputs, and even those with no connection to the region but who will begin operating to achieve ESG goals or contribute to reducing carbon emissions in Brazil.

The purpose of this study is to identify paths and opportunities for greater private sector engagement in incorporating practices that contribute to forest conservation and sustainable development in the region. The solutions illustrated are applicable to different contexts of action.
