In 2023, Idesam launched a project to map forest carbon projects in Brazil, with the aim of assessing their relationship with and impact on land tenure categories and collective territories. The mapping was carried out as part of the project entitled: Forest Carbon Projects in Brazil: analysis and proposals from the perspective of local territories, which received support from the Climate and Society Institute (iCS).
The project aims to inform the debate on forest carbon projects in Brazil, particularly in the Amazon context, and to make information on these projects available in a clear and visual format to ensure accessibility and transparency for civil society.
The panel below is an interactive dashboard that allows users to cross-reference information and filter data on carbon projects in the Agriculture, Forestry and Land Use sector registered with the Verra certification body. All information obtained has been made publicly available via the Verra Registry website.
